Hackensack University Medical Center , a part of Hackensack Meridian Health, has launched a diabetes prevention program in Garfield, using a $200,000 grant it received from the Russell Berrie Foundation.
HUMC, in conjunction with the Garfield Department of Health , will implement the Centers for Disease Control’s “Prevent T2,” an evidence-based prevention program, to educate and treat city residents on diabetes, primarily underserved older adults who are at risk for type 2 diabetes.
