Cataract Surgery May Add Years to Your Life
A cataract, a clouding of the eyes natural lens, interferes with vision and as a result a person's lifestyle.
New research suggests that in addition to improving your vision, cataract surgery may extend your life.
The study, published in June 2016 by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) in Cambridge, found that Americans 65 and older are living longer and with fewer disabilities and that cataract surgery is one of two medical advances responsible for the increase in healthy life expectancy. The other is better medical treatment for cardiovascular disease.
