Some 20 years after sales of nail products and services dived to an all-time low in this country, I’m still amazed at the way this phoenix has risen from the ashes to become so pivotal to the beauty business.
In the 1980s, as we eyed up manicures suspiciously, the number of Americans getting their nails done regularly was quadrupling. They knew then what we would come to learn – that well-tended nails are healthier, stronger nails, and speak of self-discipline, not unforgivable idleness and self-indulgence.
