Florida man known for viral mug shot gets arrested again
LEE COUNTY, Fla. – A Florida man whose mug shot went viral has been arrested once again.
The Auburn Plainsman reported that 31-year-old Charles Dion McDowell was arrested in Lee County early Wednesday morning and booked into the Lee County Detention Center.
McDowell faces charges of attempting to elude, second-degree marijuana possessions, driving with a revoked license, reckless driving and improper lane usage.
Dog tied to a pole, abandoned at busy North Carolina shopping center
SMITHFIELD, N.C. -- Police and animal control officers are trying to figure out why someone would intentionally abandon a dog in a busy Smithfield shopping center.
Authorities told WTVD it happened sometime between 8 and 10 a.m. Monday.
The dog was found at Pine Needle Plaza on N. Brightleaf Boulevard by a concerned citizen who said the dog was tied by its leash to a light pole next to the Pizza Hut drive-thru.
Police investigating after juvenile shot in the leg in Winston-Salem
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Police are investigating after a juvenile was shot and injured Wednesday in Winston-Salem, according to authorities.
It happened shortly after 5:30 p.m. at Inverness and Bon Air avenues, according to a police press release. The name of the victim and details about the shooting have not been released.

Gary Maxwell says he was cleaning a room at work this week when he found a box of keepsakes and photographs. He says he found another box marked "Charles McPherson" with the man's ashes inside.
Coast Guard suspends search for 75-year-old North Carolina fisherman
AVON, N.C. — The U.S. Coast Guard on Wednesday suspended its search for Anthony Neri, a 75-year-old Avon, North Carolina man, who has been missing since Monday.
WTKR reported that Neri was supposed to return on his 21-foot white Carolina Shiff boat at about 10 a.m., after leaving to go on a fishing trip on Sunday. Neri’s wife was the one who contacted authorities about him missing.
Hear the fake ‘active shooter’ call that sent an NC elementary school into a panic
CARRBORO, N.C. -- The 911 call about an active shooter at Carrboro Elementary School was made by a student inside the school, according to Carrboro Police Department, WTVD reports.
The 911 call Tuesday morning prompted a lockdown and brought around 50 officers to the school. It turned out to be a false alarm.
