Roanoke County’s Explore Park, located at MP 115 off of the Blue Ridge Parkway, will be the place this October for a family fun Halloween fright! Come visit Explore Park on October 19th-21st and 26th-28th from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM for our Haunted Woods Mini Golf. We are building a haunted trail with 18-holes of miniature golf. Along the way you will experience ghouls, goblins, and frightening décor. Glow in the dark balls and hole features will help you along the path, but don’t be surprised if you see a few apparitions from the woods along your way. Scary Roanoke Stories to Tell in the Dark
The second edition of our History Bike Roanoke tour! On this ride, we will stop at some familiar and unfamiliar places to hear about those who used to live in this city before us... but who may still be with us! The ride will keep us close to Downshift, visiting Grandin Village, Old Southwest, Downtown, and Southeast. 6 miles of riding with about 200 feet of elevation change. Family friendly. Helmets are required for minors and recommended for adults.
Night Howls at Mill Mountain Zoo
Third Thursdays, October through February from 5:30-7pm October 18 November 15 December 20 January 17 February 21 Bundle up and bring your friends to the zoo to hear the wolves howl, the owls hoot and the big cats call! Participants will begin the night indoors enjoying hot cider and cookies while learning about nocturnal animals and the noises they make. Guests will then proceed outdoors for a guided tour of the zoo in the dark to observe the creatures and enjoy spectacular views of the city at night.
