UPDATED: Ohio Turnpike issues limited travel ban through Lorain County
The Ohio Turnpike has issued a limited travel ban today for 161 miles of the toll road — including the length of the turnpike in Lorain County. The travel ban, in effect from noon until 5 p.m. today, is from the Indiana line to exit 161 (Interstate 71) in Strongsville. A high wind warning was issued by the National Weather Service, and it is in effect for Northeast Ohio until 7 p.m. today. Mother, childhood friend testify at Villegas trial
ELYRIA — Nicole Villegas loved Lamar Capers, according to her mother and a friend, who both took the stand Thursday during the seventh day of Villegas’ murder trial. Casey Ritenour, who has been friends with Villegas since middle school, said Villegas had been trying to kick her heroin addiction and wanted to be a family with Capers and their daughter, who was born two weeks before Capers was fatally shot Nov. 24, 2014. “She was devastated,” Ritenour said of Villegas’ reaction to shooting Capers. “She loved him.” She also said that Villegas always saw the good in people and tried to fix the bad.
