On August 27, the congregation of our sister church, Glynwood Baptist Church, voted to call me to be their next Senior Pastor. Therefore, it is with a mixture of excitement and sadness that I submit my resignation as Grow Pastor of First Baptist Church, effective September 10, 2017.
Our entire family has been richly blessed by the time we have served alongside you. This is a church family that loves well, and Caleb, Josh, Trish and I have all been on the receiving end of so much encouragement and friendship. We did not anticipate when the Lord moved us here in January 2015 that it would be for such a relatively short time. But God has been moving me toward the lead pastorate for some time now, and the opportunity to serve in that role without leaving the community we have come to love seems to be a divine opportunity. We feel the Lord has given us an open door that we must walk through if we are to be obedient to Him as a family.
I first shared this with Travis a few weeks ago, followed by our church staff shortly thereafter. Their affirmation and encouragement of me was the confirmation I needed to press on. Travis in particular has been so gracious and supportive, and has assured me First Baptist and Glynwood will enjoy many fruitful years of ministry together. Together we are working to expand the kingdom of God.
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery, In oceans deep
My faith will stand
We covet your prayers as we follow the Lord out on the waves. Thank you so much, church family, for loving us up to this point; and, we trust, for many years to come.
