Bats' nightly 'fly out' is spectacle to behold in Sacramento

The bridge is home to thousands and thousands of bats. Enough of the winged mammals emerge each evening to cloud the evening sky. A quarter of a million Mexican free-tailed bats make the underside of the causeway home each summer, hanging out during the day and heading out at night in an astonishing, coordinated storm as they sweep the area for moths, mosquitos and other morsels.
