The Seattle City Council voted late Monday afternoon to restrict how money collected from the city's soda tax will be spent. The tax generated nearly $22 million, $6 million more than expected. Mayor Jenny Durkan redirected the excess money into the general fund upsetting some council members. Council members say all the money from the tax is supposed to be spent on health and nutrition programs for low-income families and the proposal approved Monday sets those guidelines.
