HOUSTON -- Erasmo Ramirez's return from a three-month stint on the disabled list couldn't have gone much better on Sunday at Minute Maid Park, as he threw five scoreless innings in the Mariners' 4-3, 10-inning win over the Astros. Reliever Nick Rumbelow was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma as Ramirez replaced Felix Hernandez in the rotation after the longtime ace was moved to the bullpen on Thursday by manager Scott Servais. Herenandez went 8-10 with a 5.73 ERA in his first 23 starts.

HOUSTON -- After playing third base for the first time for Class A Short-Season Everett on Saturday, Robinson Cano has told the Mariners he feels ready to go as he prepares for Tuesday's return from his 80-game suspension. Cano went 0-for-3 with a walk on Saturday night and is 7-for-18 (.389) with two home runs and six RBIs in five Minor League outings between Everett and Triple-A Tacoma.
