Unified Police Department says that a man is in critical condition after he was struck by a minivan on Sunday evening. According to Unified Police PIO Melody Cutler, the accident happened near 4500 S. 800 West just after 5:00 p. m. A minivan heading west ran a red light and struck a 36-year-old man who was walking on the crosswalk. The man was transported to Intermountain Medical Center in critical condition.

Five years ago today, Unified Police Officer Doug Barney was killed in the line of duty. On Jan. 17, 2016, Barney was shot and killed while investigating a traffic crash near 2160 E. 4500 South in Holladay.
