The D. C. Council approved legal sports betting on a 11-2 vote on Tuesday. The “Sports Wagering Lottery Amendment Act of 2018” bill was introduced by Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans. Mayor Muriel Bowser is expected to sign the bill. Now, sports fans will be able to buy a ticket to watch the Wizards or Capitals at Capital One Arena, for instance, and then place a bet on the game there. In May, the Supreme Court ruled that states could legalize sports betting.
