Our summer sangria and frozen daiquiri season may have come to a close but that doesn't mean we're not still imbibing with the best of 'em. As the temperatures drop, Gurney's Newport Resort and Marina transforms their North Lawn into a wintry wonderland complete with an ice skating rink. Glide across the ice with unobstructed views of the Newport Bridge, Goat Island Lighthouse and New Harbor as your backdrop.

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority said it will extend bus service into Quonset Business Park on a trial basis. The pilot program for QX service, short for Quonset Express, will begin Jan. 22 and offer free rides through mid-April. "It became clear through our conversations that the people who commute to Quonset needed a public transit option and RIPTA is happy to support economic growth in our state," RIPTA CEO Scott Avedisian said in a news release.
