The Island University’s McNair Scholars Program hosted McNair Day on April 18 to recognize McNair Scholars who conducted research in spring/summer 2018 in honor of Dr. Ronald E. McNair, physicist and NASA astronaut who lost his life in the Challenger space shuttle accident in 1986.

Dreams are more than a fleeting thought – they are passions that give us purpose. For Kallie Hudson, a first-year musical theatre student, her life goal is to cultivate a career on the stage. At Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Hudson is diligently striving to make her dream a reality.

Adams, whose concentration is in Pre-Allied Health, has been involved in the Kinesiology Club for two years, first as secretary and now as president. She is a scholarship recipient, has been on the Dean’s List since 2015, and is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success. Adams is also a research assistant and worked on a study called “The Biomechanics of a Javelin Throw.” Adams’ future plans include earning a doctorate degree in Physical Therapy.

During this year’s Friends of Engineering Luncheon on April 5, the Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation and H-E-B were recognized for their contributions to the Island University’s engineering program and its students.

Daniela Bergmann, a senior majoring in environmental sciences and minoring in biology, is putting together one of the best golf careers as a student-athlete in the history of the Island University and is a dedicated environmental researcher.
