BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) – A man was arrested near the Mexico border for a 2017 murder in Bakersfield, according to Bakersfield Police Sgt. Brian Holcombe. Michael Rosales is accused in the stabbing death of 23-year-old Miguel Garcia. Police said the stabbing took place at a party in the 2100 block of Dayton Avenue. Police haven’t commented on a suspected motive for the stabbing. Rosales has been transferred back to Kern County and booked into jail.

Blue-collar workers will still lose jobs at four U.S. plants slated for closure next year, but most will be able to find employment at other GM factories where jobs are being added. Some would have to relocate.

The Kern Community College District Board announced the contract to renovate the gym and field house has been awarded to a local business. S. C. Anderson, Inc. , received the contract to design/build the Bakersfield College Gym and Field House project, budgeted at $63 million, according to a news release from BC. The gym and field house project is part renovation, part new construction to create a state-of-the-art facility and is scheduled to start in May 2020 and be completed in December 2022.
